A sharp sigh left the akuma as she slumped in her seat, the fabric of her elaborate skirt bunched in her hands. "Of all the missions, we get this one." The girl glanced up at her mission partner, who was as dressed up as she was. "Your costume bothering you?" She asked, glancing down at her own. They'd been ordered to wear a rather strange uniform for this mission, her own consisting of a deep red gown trimmed in black ruffles, and a matching mask. The two had been sent to retrieve a piece of Innocence currently in the possession of a wealthy, though eccentric, noblewoman. The lady had planned a grand masquerade ball where the most popular couple of the night would receive a jewel encrusted mask, the very object in which their target hid.

It was interesting to see Robin for once not all smiles. Usually she took things in stride, but then again the yards of fabric and ruffles was enough to put anyone off. Watching her out of the corner of his eye Kanda observed as she began to fuss once again with the material. It seemed though with the costumes they wore shared a similar theme. His was more of a morning coat with the long ruffles of the sleeves hitting the tops of his knuckles from underneath the coat while at his throat was a repeat of the overly zealous addition of yet more ruffles. "Let's just get this over with." Kanda said with a ring of his normal annoyance more at his attire than the one he had been paired with. Holding his mask in his hand, the swordsman felt if anything this might hinder them more than it helped. Yet like else it was too late to change the plan unless something really went wrong. "Hopefully if we are lucky we won't have to stay long and we can burn these clothes on the way back to the Order. Lets make a sweep of the room, hopefully we'll find our target that way." he finished.

"Agreed. The sooner we find the innocence, the sooner we get get these monkey suits off!" She gathered up her skirts and hopped out of the carriage, throwing societal conventions to the wind until someone looked her way. She'd act like herself as long as she could, as she'd never favored the 'lady-like' behavior she'd been told to exhibit during this mission. "Ah, Kanda?" A nervous laugh left her painted lips as she gave him a distressed look from behind her ornate mask. She wasn't at all surprised that the entrance to the ballroom would be up a small flight of stairs, rather she had dreaded the fact. Her attire would not make it easy for her to move up the steps, and she mentally cursed the person who had designed such a cumbersome ball gown. "I think I'm going to need you to help me walk. My shoes are terrible and my skirts are in the way."

Kanda had tied his mask by its satin ribbon as Robin was being assisted out of the carriage. Following behind her he unceremoniously hopped down to further indicate how much he couldn't wait for this to be over either. He could have dealt with the mask, he could have dealt with the coat. But the ruffles were stupid! Upon hearing Robin's comment this still was a little strange to hear that something like a flight of stairs would vex her so. Offering Robin his arm Kanda slowed his pace to accommodate her smaller gait. The sound of the music greeted them and so did the looks of the other party goes. "I see we have caught everyone's eye I see."

She gladly took his arm, smiling gratefully at him as they made their way up the stairs. "Then we'll have to act like we aren't suspicious as long as they look." She covered her mouth, pretending to giggle at something as another couple passed a little too close. One quick glance across the large conglomeration of masked people gave up little information about which one of them the noblewoman could have possibly been. "Finding our target might be harder than I thought, but I don't think splitting up is a good idea. It'd be hard to find each other again if we did." Her grip on his arm tightened slightly as the large doors were closed behind them, the noise drawing the eyes of every other person in the ball room. "There's so many people."

Kanda was just about to reply to Robin's statement when another man, a guard of some sort tapped him on the shoulder. "You can not have live weapons here Sir." His face, though partially hidden the annoyance in Kanda's voice was loud and clear, "Unfortunately there is nothing I can do about that. My charge is from a very important family and is to be under close watch of one of her Fathers armed guards." Not allowing the man to reply Kanda led Robin off to the opposite side of the room. Somewhere that they would hopefully have a better vantage point to see all the guests dancing, talking and moving about. "This should be a little better for us and your skirts." Kanda said speaking of how Robin had been fussing with them earlier.

"Merci, merci." Robin leaned against a pillar once they stopped walking. "Nice save back there, but do you think the guards bought it?" The 'guard and his young charge' lie was good, but she worried as to how they'd back it up if anyone pried into the 'story' more deeply. "At one point we'll have to go back down to the main floor, as much as I'd rather not." She straightened up as a man holding a tray of drinks approached then, asking if they'd like any champagne.

The best thing they could do at that time was to keep mobile and to blend as much as possible. Bringing his hand up to the man that offered the drink to him Kanda was in the midst of still looking around the room. "They should since the last thing they want is for something to happen to one of their own." Kanda replied.
He and Robin attending the party together was a very good cover not only since he was supposed to be guarding her so if he seemed a bit aloof it wouldn't set off any alarm bells. As well as she could get around and even inquire about certain things under the guise of 'small talk'. "We'll just be sure to stay mobile and keep them from cornering us."

"That sounds like a good plan." She opened her fan with a pop, shielding her face with it. She'd been drilled with the information known as 'the language of the fan' so she would blend in rather well. "I might have to hold onto your arm, I'd rather avoid being pestered by rich bachelors." She stepped away from the pillar she was leaning on, her skirts gather slightly in her free hand. "What should we do if we're down on the ballroom floor and the dance starts? We can't very well run off, it wouldn't look well on us."
